Classe Marblehead Italia
Classe Marblehead Italia

Info
Purpose
Promotion of radio-controlled sailing in Italy. This includes both sailing classes recognised by IRSA (IOM, Marbhelead, 10 Rater, Class A) and other classes worthy of development, such as Class RG65 and Class Dragon Force.
Promotion
Establishing contacts with other RC sailing associations in Italy, promoting and encouraging the design, construction and competition of radio-controlled sailing boats. Providing input for improvements or updates to class and racing rules.
Support
It promotes compliance with the “Class Rules” by supporting measurement and certification activities through its own measurers. It prepares the Register of Measurers, interprets the new international technical rules of the Classes, and formulates requests to IRSA and IOMICA.
Organisation
It maintains the register of skippers, sail numbers and boats and is responsible for initial registration and change of ownership procedures. It organises events for all classes recognised by the FIV and IRSA, and shares the National Regatta Calendar for radio-controlled sailing boats with the FIV.

The IRSA Marblehead (M) class is probably the most exciting to sail, with its moderate size and light weight combined with high manoeuvrability and stability.
Essentially a box rule with minimal constraints.
A modern M will usually be made almost entirely of carbon fibre: hull, appendages, masts and fittings.
The class was the first to adopt hi-tech construction in the early 1990s, and development has been limited since then.
This allows almost all boats built since then to compete well in modern fleets.
The class is often referred to as the “Formula One” of radio-controlled sailing.
The Marblehead class is managed by the International Class Association, the IMCA.
